Copyright notice requirements
A notice should include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorized representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list when multiple works are involved.
- Identification and exact URL of the material claimed to infringe, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- Your name and sufficient contact information, such as mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
Review and removal
We may request missing information, preserve records, remove or disable access to identified material, notify the affected contributor or source, and take other appropriate action. Repeated or knowingly false notices may be handled in accordance with applicable law.
Counter-notices
If material was removed because of mistake or misidentification, the affected party may submit a counter-notice identifying the removed material and its former location, explaining the good-faith basis for restoration, providing contact details and a signature, and including the jurisdiction and service-of-process statements required by applicable law. Consider obtaining legal advice before sending a notice or counter-notice.
